Q : Hello Hows it going i just bought one your product ULTIMATE Whey Protein HWPI+ I would like to know when should i start taking the protein shake before the gym or after how many times a day
thanks
A :Hi Ivan
Glad you hear you have purchased a TOP Nutrition product. You have selected the top line protein in the Ultimate. A high quality protein supplement should be taken within the hour prior to training and also immediately after. These two times have been shown to assist in the prevention of the catabolic state, caused by intense weight training.
Your overall protein intake should be determined from your bodyweight and the number of training sessions and intensity you train at. Make sure you can calculate the protein from the shakes into your daily requirement. For the hard training athlete with no medical problems we would recommend to start at 3 grams of protein per kilogram of bodyweight each day over 6 to 8 feedings.
Good luck with your training.

Q : I am about to start using two of your products, and require a little advice on how much I should use each day. I have purchased Performance 100% pure Micronised Creatine Monohydrate and Superior Whey Protein - Oligopeptide Isolate.
My training regime consists of:
Monday: Weightlifting and Martial Arts, Tuesday: Kickboxing, Wednesday: Weightlifting and martial Arts
Thursday: Kickboxing, Friday: Weightlifting, Saturday Grappling, Sunday: Rest.
The directions on the protein are clear but could you please tell me how much creatine I should use each day? The label only gives a serving size, but no indication of how many times a day (and the maximum daily recommended intake). I would like to start taking your supplements ASAP, so would appreciate a speedy response to my enquiry.
A :Hi Beau
To give you an accurate answer is dependant on your body weight. When using pure creatine it is best to load it with a transporters like dextrose, in a ratio of 1 creatine to 2 dextrose. You would be best to use the creatine 1 hour before and immediately after your workout in you protein. You could also look to do a loading phase of five days being five serves per day for five days then drop back to before and after training.
The average is 1.5 heaped teaspoons per serve for approx 80kg bodyweight, this is five grams of creatine.
Hope this helps.

Q : Just wondering there are claims that asn hp-100 is the number one on the market I myself have used if for quite some time and am very happy with its quality yet comparing it to the Top Nutrition...is it lactose free (As im lactose intolerant)? how close does it come the as HP 100? has it been put the CSIRO test to clarify that what it says it is and what it stands for is all truth?
A :Thanks for the enquiry.
As far as any other brand products I cannot comment. If you check most advertising material the majority of manufactures make claims to "be the best or are the best"
At TOP NUTRITION we focus on our own products and ensure that they are the highest quality and the best value for money we can supply then for.
Our original 100%HWPI was exactly that 100% HWPI. A top end protein of the highest processing. The product has evolved and is now ULTIMATE Whey Protein Plus. SO is no longer 100% HWPI, the "PLUS"
is because the products is now fortified with a number of nutrients to make the 100% HWPI even better. These additives include vitamins and minerals, glutamine peptides, fat metabolisers and CLA.
Any Whey based product will have to some degree lactose. The high processing of HWPI makes it negligible. Lactose is a sugar. As you can see from our label there is 0.5 grams of sugar per 100grams of product.
We believe our product to be of the highest calibre available in the market place and we know our price structure is more that competitive.
As for the testing. TOP NUTRITION was part of the supplement registration scheme through ASDA prior to their restructure and becoming ASADA. We now continue our own independent testing on our products and give an unconditional guarantee hat the products are true to label and free from banned substances..
I hope this information helps you.
Thanks for the enquiry
Stay strong

Q : Lance, how long have you been training? Are you going to compete again?
A :I have been training in general about 17 years. I have been a competitive natural bodybuilder since 1995 when I placed in my first two competitions.
Am I going to compete again. Well never say never. The competitive spirit still burns and I would love to step on stage. I will only do this if I have been able to properly prepare for the competition. At the moment I have a heavy work schedule and family commitments so I will have to say, see what happens in the new year.

Q : I currently take Premium Whey morning, before workout and before bed. I take ultimate post workout. I'm almost out of Premium and have plenty of Ultimate. I was wondering if my results would be better if I made all my shakes Ultimate. My reason for using premium is the WPC for slower absorption. Alternatively is it better to use superior during the day and ultimate post workout?
Also how much of the fat metaboliser does the ultimate have? This is important to me because it will let me know if i need to have more than 1 serve a day to benefit from it.
A :Hi Denver.
Protein intake is I believe the most miss understood of all. Unfortunately it’s not as simple as which is the best one to take once and bingo we get big, although some companies would have you believe this.
First and foremost, protein supplements need to be looked upon as part of your macro nutrition program. In other words the base diet. All protein powders are exactly that just an easily digestible form of food that is highly utilized by your body. If you eat enough protein from other sources then I would recommend one shake a day immediately after training, but I am yet to hear of anyone that takes in enough protein from their basic diet.
The only change to what you have stated is I would take the Ultimate first thing in the morning as you want to stop the catabolic state as soon as you can upon getting up, so a fast digestion protein would be most favourable.
I think your use of both Premium and Ultimate is your best option and it also allows high value for money. If you wished to utilize one protein only then you could use superior for all. This is a compromise on what you are doing but in reality would not affect overall results if the rest of your diet is adequate.
Just remember your protein requirement is based upon how much you weigh and recovery requirements.
If you want let me know your weight and basic training program and I’ll reply with specific info regarding your own protein requirements.
Good luck

Q : Hi there!
I have recently purchased 3 of your products:
- SUPERIOR whey protein isolate
- Performance Sport Amino Fuel Electrolyte replacement
- Advanced Acceleration Creatine+ (low carb)
I am a 80kg male (31 years old). I work out 4 times per week @ an average of 1.15hr per session.
Currently, i have been drinking a protein shake (as per directions) first thing in the morning with breakfast.
Prior to attending the gym (30-45mins), i have a mixture of creatine (1TABLEspoon) & amino fuel (2 TABLEspoons) with water as directed by the gentleman at the shop i purchase the supplements from.
(please note, i did go through the loading phase with the creatine).
Within 30mins of finishing my workout, i consume another protein shake (WITHOUT creatine/amino's) & sometimes a protein shake before bed.
It is quite frustrating when it comes to all the different ways suggested on how/when to consume the above mentioned...
Could you please provide me with your opinion based on the information i have provided so i can set it straight once & for all.
Thankyou for your time,
Dave
.
A :Hi Dave.
You are right in saying it is confusing.
I have gone back over a number of research papers the last couple of days and there is NO definite answer as to the best way to utilise supplements, specifically creatine.
The loading phase was utilised when pure creatine first came to the market. This was done to allow higher concentrations of creatine to be absorbed and retained within the muscle cell. As pure creatine was hard to flush into muscle that was the reason for the loading. Then came adding creatine to a high gh type of drink that was low in fructose. This was to cause an insulin response in the body and so force the creatine into the muscle cells. Further research developed all the new creatine mixes with inbuilt loading formulas. These are all for better absorption and a lot more convenience of use.
Now specifics for you,
At 80kg your base protein intake is around 280 grams of first class protein per day. The most important times being first thing in the morning and after training. The rest of the protein should be spread over at least 5 meals.
The Amino Fuel and Advanced acceleration Creatine are both individually great products that work exceptionally well together. I love this combination. The way you are using it is fine, but you can refine this process by having the same mix immediately after training. Then half an hour after this you would have the protein shake with some carbs.
Since using this pre and post workout my recovery has definitely improved. The big thing is to give each formula an honest try of at least 6 weeks and realistically assess your results. Muscle gain/fat loss etc. Numerous people will give varied advice and a lot is based on what they believe is the best way to take it for them. Our scientist involved in the development of the Amino Fuel were the ones that recommended the before and after schedule for me after assessing my recovery and diet needs. Give it a try, I believe you will be happy with the results.
Remember supplements are supplemental to your macro diet, ie food.
Take care

Q : Hi
I’m after a ripped formula in you product range,
Protein shake that loses weight,,
Can you advise me on which one, also a price and where can I get it from.
A :TOP Nutrition does not have a ripped formula type protein powder. We do have Protein that is fortified with the fat loss assisting nutrients. Protein is a recovery food and needed multiple times throughout the day. Different types of protein have different rates of absorption and different quality in how the body uses them.
Fat loss supplements have two areas one being a thermogenic the other being a nutrition partitioner. One increases the bodies burning of fat ability the other assists the body in using fat as fuel.
If you would like further information on fat loss supplements for your individual needs please send me another email

Q : I am currently using your Ultimate Protein in smoothies to increase the protein in my diet, I drink half as a morning snack and half as a afternoon snack during the day. Will making the smoothies the night before have any effect on the effectiveness of the protein? Other products advise to use it within the hour.
Regards,
Nathan
A :I have gone back to our researchers to get you an answer from the scientific basis. I would also advise to be careful of how long you have it pre prepared. Protein does breakdown. Heat is especially bad so don’t ever let your shake get hot as the protein denatures and damages the amino acid profile. As for a specific time that it would take or be ok to have pre prepared, I will get back to you shortly on an answer.
Sorry for the delay in reply, we have actually been researching to see if there are any studies on the total protein breakdown over time when mixed and we have not been able to find any. We have not done any studies ourselves on this and our independent professors also assisted in finding an answer. Alas all we can recommend is the protein should be drunk as soon as possible after mixing. We believe that it would be fine for a couple of hours but after that we are not to sure. We can say that if you make a Fruit smoothie type drink then the fruit acids would break down the protein very quickly so we would not recommend this.;
Sorry there is no definitive answer but I hope this helps
