Goals
Immediate goal as a lifter is to make the Commonwealth Games 2006
and a medal would be nice. Then I plan to retire and spend more time
with my family. I would like to remain in the sport though, in the
background, perhaps as coach or official...
Words of Wisdom
A positive attitude and determination have really helped me. But
it’s not only important to be positive and believe in yourself. You
also have to do everything in your power to achieve your goals. That
means not skipping a training session or an exercise because you are
tired or that you have something more interesting to do. You need to
be able to look back at the end of the day and know that you have
done everything possible to attain your goal. You have to put 100%
effort into every training session (physically and mentally),
without taking short cuts and being lazy with your technique. Keep
striving for perfection while maintaining a positive attitude. When
those negative thoughts and doubts enter your mind – push those
thoughts away, if you give in to those thoughts it could mean the
difference between success and failure.
